Yesterday got brutal out there. This wall has no shade at any point during the day and though it’s still relatively cool out, it got rough. The lobster man is in full effect. Anyway, got Vance coming together and looking forward to finishing the left side short of shadows soon. Back to work now.

Had a great day today. Zen stopped by, took a couple of shots and bought me a cupcake. Met a crazy redneck named Rocky with borderline ICP tattoos and a tear on his cheek of course. Apparently his girl stole $20,000 from him and has his Camaro. He drank a tall can in three minutes and told me how he’s considering killing her which I said sounded like a poor choice. After that some really stoned looking d-boys pulled up and watched me paint for five minutes and gave me props. Good day in the diffused light.

Yesterday was perfect for painting on a south facing wall, overcast and cool. So I spent the better part of the morning and afternoon detailing foliage and cracks and beginning Vance Monument. Still a lot of work to go but Im happy with the progress and anxious to destroy more concrete with overgrowth and get in there with some shadow black and add some real depth. Vines, cracks, and weeds are the words of the day.

Started this wall yesterday for a new apple cider brewery and tasting room called Urban Orchard in west Asheville. Gotta lot of work to do but it’s gonna be fun and the weather is finally right for it.
